Unassuming and unique, Chiesa San Michele represents a beautiful 17th-century church with whitewashed walls and yellow accents. Crystal chandeliers hang from the arched ceilings around the elegant high altar of marble. Enter to see the impressive collection of paintings that hang from the walls, including works by 18th-century Neapolitan artists such as Giacomo Del Po, Francesco Solimena, and Nicola Malinconico. Even more famous is the floor here, executed in maiolica tiles by Leonardo Chiaiese and dating from 1761. Its vivid colors depict the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. To get a good view, climb up to the choir loft to really take in the masterpiece.
