Piazza Umberto I, Capri

The most famous square on the island of Capri, Piazza Umberto I has been the meeting point and center of town since Roman times. The focal point remains the 18th-century church tower, whose image often stands as a symbol for the island. Host to fish and produce markets in the early 1900s, the square is now filled with a wide array of cafes and restaurants. Settle at an outdoor table to watch the people come and go, or if you stay late enough, catch the sun setting over the sea.
