  • Beautiful park with amazing views of the city of Matera. Caves around every corner with so much to explore and find. Very cool to see the ancient dwellings and get a sense of life there. A word of warning, the caves themselves are filthy on the inside due to ignorant tourists using them as bathrooms and leaving tissues everywhere! If you go, be prepared to use nature as your bathroom but do NOT leave tissues after yourself! Have some respect for others who wish to enjoy the park!
  • The view to Matera and cavehouses is beautiful. But it is quite a long walk (about 25 minutes) from the parking place. Just to be prepared in a hot summer weather: there is no shade or any place where you could buy water. Be prepared with proper shoes too if you want to leave the road and look around
