Create an itinerary including Green Grotto Caves
Step into Green Grotto Caves, a series of naturally sculpted caves filled with interesting geological formations. Situated on Jamaica's northern coast, the caves gained their name from the green algae that covers their walls. You aren't the first to think the caves would make a good underground lair for a supervillain: they served as the location for Doctor Kananga's base in the 1973 James Bond film, "Live and Let Die." Atmospheric lighting accentuates the mystery and wonder of these subterranean treasure troves, and guided tours help you understand the natural processes leading to their formation. See Green Grotto Caves and all Runaway Bay has to offer by arranging your trip with our Runaway Bay journey builder.

  • Our next stop after Rose Hall was the Greet Grotto Caves. Truly spectacular. Our tour guide was entertaining and humorous. He was very knowledgeable about the caves and how the slaves used the caves to escape. We toured the caves and saw birds and bats. Our tour guide also showed us stone images and carvings that resembled people, places, and things. He showed us how the slaves communicated in the caves and how dark it was for them. I truly enjoy the caves and our tour guide. He was humorous.
  • Fantastic cave tour experience. They have included the himan history while preserving the natural state of the cave. There are great formations and wild life in the cave to discover with your guide. Lots of information to take in on the surrounding ground while you await your tour. Clean restrooms as well. Great place for the whole family.
