Create an itinerary including Goryokaku Park
Visit the historic site of Goryokaku Park, a former fortress in the shape of a five-pointed star. Built in the 1850s, the fort owes its curious shape to Ayasaburo Takeda, who designed it to optimize defence and gun placement. Roam the fort complex, a public park since 1914, and take a relaxing walk along the moat, lined with lush cherry blossom trees. Climb to the top of the 100 m (328 ft) tall observation tower to enjoy panoramic views of the fort and its surroundings. • We loved our time walking around this lovely area. Great to learn the history of the place and see what remains of the old fort where history was made . If in town you have to visit .

  • A lovely and huge park with beautiful landscape and a serene lake. Goryokaku park is famous for the iconic star-shaped fort constructed in 1855. The Goryokaku tower is located just opposite the park and it offers a full view of the fort. In the center of the park, there is a magistrate office which open for visits but admission fee is required. Overall it is a nice park to explore but it was rather crowded during my visit.
  • Sakura season!!! Just outstanding. Walking through the park as breathtaking and a moment in our lives that we will always remember. A must in cherry blossom season. A few photos of the 100s we took.
