Hakodate Morning Market is located a few steps from the city’s main railway station. The market usually opens at 5.00 a.m. and closes at midday. The market is free to visit and easy to access via the JR and South Hokkaido railway systems. Lots of fresh live seafood is available. Many of the stalls also offer to cook your purchases on the spot. Can’t get any fresher than this! Had amazing visit. Love the market and breakfast!
An interesting but expensive market to visit with mostly fresh seafood products, fruits, and vegetables. The market is just conveniently located within a walking distance from Hakodate station. The market is not too crowded and there is a food court inside the market with different eateries for visitors to enjoy fresh seafood. It is not recommended to dine here due to the very small portion and expensive charges. There are also many cafes and restaurants nearby the market. One of the highlights of the market is the squid fishing which attracts many visitors to pay for the experience. It was fun enough to watch but it will cost quite a lot to fish and enjoy a thin tiny squid sashimi.
