Head to the summit of Mount Hakodate to enjoy rewarding views of the city's picturesque bay. You can reach the 334 m (1096 ft) tall peak by car or bus, or attempt to hike up the steep, forested mountain. Also available is a scenic ropeway, which can take you straight to the viewpoint and remains the most popular form of transport. For a slightly different perspective, come by after dark, when the shimmering lights endow the city with a magical appearance and provide an ideal backdrop for a few nighttime shots. I came here just for fun seeking to find a nice view and serene calm everything. And this area did not disappoint. I got to see an amazing view of the mountain. I got up to the mountain but using the rope lift which is basically a ski lift. And while riding the ski you will get insane views of the ocean, buildings, random floating things and etc. If you go to hakodate you HAVE to come here, it's a must.

I believe that Mount Hakodate offers a great view of the city on good days but unfortunately, it was extremely misty during our visit there. We could hardly see the view and it was covered with thick clouds. Mount Hokodate is another inactive volcano in Japan. The 3 minutes ropeway was enjoyable and there is a decent size souvenir shop, a restaurant, and an event hall at the peak of the mountain.
