Create an itinerary including Kenrokuen Garden
Explore the natural scenery and nooks and crannies in Kenrokuen Garden, a sprawling park that once served as the outer gardens of Kanazawa Castle. Ponds, bridges, and teahouses punctuate the grounds, full of blossoming trees and walking trails. Look for Japan's oldest fountain, which operates via natural water pressure, and for Flying Geese Bridge, made of eleven individual stones that mimic geese flying in formation. A pedestrian way outside the garden's paid entrance is lined with picturesque shops and restaurants. Before you head to Kanazawa, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Kanazawa trip maker website, to make sure you see all that Kanazawa has to offer, including Kenrokuen Garden.

  • These gardens are beautiful and considered to be one of Japan's best. Plan to spend 1 1/2 to 2 hours just walking around and enjoying the lovely landscaping. Very peaceful.

  • Despite the rainy day we still decided to visit the park. It was worth every raindrop on our heads. The park is breathtaking. Just wish they put up more lights in the evening and left the park open an hour longer. It’s so beautiful. Even the gardeners were so friendly and took their time talking to us in English explaining about the history of the park!!!
  • This grandiose Japanese garden is an amazing experience. It’s so large and full of beautiful areas and small bits of history. Spent hours walking around soaking in the serenity and beauty. There’s a tea ceremony, a couple of museums and a boatload of pretty views. The people working there are absolutely doing a fantastic job keeping this pristine. Combined with a trip to Kanazawa castle and that area, you’ve enough to see for an entire day (if not more)
