Constructed in 1593, Kongobu-ji Temple forms part of World Heritage Site and boasts one of the largest rock gardens in Japan. Take your shoes off and walk through the Ohiroma Room, used for important rituals and ceremonies, then sip some hot tea in the large tatami hall. From there, you can access the sprawling garden, featuring a centerpiece of 140 granite stones arranged in the shape of two dragons.   • The place is a very impressive Temple with outstanding wall painting, intricate layout and the biggest rock garden in Japan. We used a free English speaking tour guide just for two of us. It was fun.....  more

  • This is one of the temple complex. And you can enjoy to visit a historical buildings. Oh, by the way, they serve brief tea service for visitors. Late 2020, one of the famous Japanese monochrome painter Senju produced two great sliding door paintings. You can not only see them, but you can take a photo!!
  • I must say I love Japanese gardens and this one is unique, There are a lot of stone and rocks and is way bigger than than other I seen before. Now in autumn is even prettier. Those are quiet times in japan, there are no tourist from overseas and this places are almost empty. Beautiful place to visits in you time In koyasan
