Tourists easily identify Tsutenkaku in the Osaka skyline, as the octagonal metal structure gleams by day and shines with colorful LED lights at night. The structure, completed in its current form in 1956, rises to an imposing 103 m (338 ft) and hosts a viewing platform at 91 m (298.5 ft). The LED lights, which illuminate the tower, change color every couple of months, usually to honor a particular season or event. Check out the advertisements from Hitachi, the structure's main sponsor since 1957, displayed with the tower's lights. • I suspect by modern standards the tower is not high enough, glitzy enough, not extreme. There is no glass floor or really scary experience but for someone a bit nervous of heights this place is...

  • I tried Japanese kushikatsu at Tsutenkaku. It was very crowded and lively. I enjoyed the variety of Japanese food in Osaka

  • Definitely add this to your places to visit in Osaka, the tower has a rich history and beautiful views, overlooking the Zoo, railway lines and buildings of Osaka. When here, try and do the slide tunnel. It will definitely give you an adrenaline rush but you'd enjoy the thrill and experience. After your sight seeing, be sure to get souvenirs from the shops on the observation decks or at the basement.
  • It is great. But, currently, it may not be the best time to go because the top part is under construction. There will be a long line. So you should make sure you have enough time to enjoy. Most shops are closed. But there is one 串カツ shop beside it. That makes worth visiting. And Ticket price has become 900yen now.
