Toyako Visitor Center, Toyako-cho

Most of the exhibits are in Japanese so it's tough for foreign tourists. Overall its OK, visit if you've got spare time. The volcano simulation was pretty disappointing, everything was in Japanese and the room just went dark and had sounds with simulation on the small TV screen. No movement.

Both the visitor center (free) and the volcano museum (600¥ per adult, including a translated version of the 13 - minute movie shown periodically in the main auditorium) are well worth a visit, as they offer rich information on the history and echology of the area. Not to be missed.
