Start the tour at the information center, where you can choose to go with a guide or by yourself. You'll receive a copy of the map and one candle to help you explore the castle. Once inside, look for the old dungeon, deep inside the earth, accessed by a narrow ladder. Walk through the mysterious hallways, the medieval porch, and the attic of the castle tower. • Honestly fantastic place! The ruins are stunning, it's really cool to walk up in the towers. The castle park is nice too. The staff at the castle was very friendly and helpful. DO NOT miss the museum - it was truly amazing! 100% recommended.
  • Once the mightiest fortress of Livonia, this castle in Cēsis is a great place to visit. You can climb up to the roof to enjoy the view of the town. Even though the castle is quite destroyed you can enter some of the inner chambers and explore the remains. Outside the castle there is an exhibition in the open air where you can see some tools, weapons and handcrafts. Overall it leaves an impressive image of a Teutonic Order times.
