Hike up to the second-tallest point on the island, Mont Choungui, a volcanic mountain standing at a height of 593 m (1,946 ft). On your way, pause for some bird-watching: the site is abundant with a variety of species, some of them very rare, such as Comoro blue and olive pigeons, Mayotte sunbirds, and white-eyes. You may bump into other species that make their home here, including different types of geckos and turtles. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Chirongui holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Mont Choungui and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.
