Create an itinerary including Los Arcos de Mismaloya
Head beneath the water at Los Arcos de Mismaloya, a scenic coastal area with an abundant marine environment and interesting geological features. Stretch out on the sandy beach and admire the caves and arches of the limestone islands out in the bay. Consider taking a tour boat out to the islands to explore what lies beneath. Many companies arrange diving, snorkeling, and swimming experiences, where you get to see sea turtles, schools of colorful fish, and the naturally sculpted arches and caves up close. • Very beautiful picturesque place. I travelled solo on this one as my wife was ill on this day! I'd of loved to have gone and completed this site but all I can review is the beauty of the scene.

  • I visited the island rock outcroppings via tour boat from Puerto Vallarta's beach pier. There was snorkeling, but water visibility was very limited, maybe 10-15ft. There was green plant life on the outer ocean side of main ROCK. There were many birds nesting. The water is very green from/with algae. During the rainy July - September months, the water is Clearer. A nice comfortable boat to, for 30 minutes, the to Las Animas beach. A heavily visited tour stop. Not now in May, during the week.
  • The Arches of Mismaloya were a highlight when we did the Hop on off Bus Tour in Puerto Vallarta. The 2 hour bus route travelled along the main coastline road. It offered views of this scenic fishing village, where you can get a boat tour to the arches. Locals plopped an iguana in my hand for photos, because the movie Night of the Iguana (Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton) was shot in that area.
