Create an itinerary including Ponta de Sao Lourenco
Green cliffs, red stone chasms, and sharp rocks protruding from the ocean foam make Ponta de Sao Lourenco a wonder that is virtually free from human influence. The area overlooks the north and south parts of the island, and on particularly clear days you can see Porto Santo in the distance. Follow a wooden boardwalk along the ridge over secluded beaches, ocean grottos, and volcanic cliffs. You'll cross valleys lined with palm trees and reach heights of 200 m (650 ft), where only the air separates you from the ocean surface. Bring plenty of water. • The most eastern coast of Madeira offers outstanding views of the nature. Great place to enjoy a walk, go hiking... Very busy wellknown tourist spot. Extremly windy. Must do 👍

  • One of the most unique and beautiful hikes I've ever gone. ~4.5 miles with moderate elevation changes. Make sure you go all the way to the sardine house and then up the last hill (this one is a burner) for the best view of the lighthouse. Weather changes quickly from hot to cold and winds can be very strong so recommend you bring an easy to carry wind/rain jacket and layers.
  • Beautiful hike in the early mornings. It is not that easy, especially going on the last mountain. When we went back, there were tons of people and it was quite busy and stressful to walk back because everyone went in the other direction. We were very happy to see some food trucks back at the parking lot so that we were able to buy a nice cold drink. Very nice views and it was worth it! Bring water and sunscreen.
