The Cathedral of Faro is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Faro, Portugal. The cathedral was consecrated in the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the late 13th century by the Archbishop of Braga. It has been the seat of the Diocese of Faro since 1540, replacing Silves Cathedral on the orders of King John III of Portugal. In 1596 it was sacked by the Earl of Essex. • We stayed in Faro for a short break and took a tour of the old town. This cathedral was in our path and was well worth a visit.

  • it's quite old building historically and unique, beautiful from outside/inside. The Tickets is quite fair/cheap, and you can explore inside and outside of it (you can climb on the cathedral tower as well to be able to see the best view from up top. And to take Great/memorable pictures of it plus there is some nice and old cathedral bells. from up top of the tower you can see in almost 360 viewing huge amount of the "Faro City" and all around the cathedral. Definitely worth to explore and check it.
  • Quite nice to visit. You have access to the cathedral, the upper level with a museum where you can see the cathedral from above, then a garden with a sun clock and 2 small chapels (including one with bones but not very well preserved) and the rooftop. The view from the rooftop are very nice, and you can see the bells.
