Stretching across the Tagus River, Vasco da Gama Bridge represents the longest bridge in Europe. Armando Rito designed this cable-style bridge to relieve traffic in Lisbon and transport visitors from other parts of Europe to Expo 98, which was held in Parque das Nacoes. Construction began in 1995 on the bridge--which is 17km (11 mi) long, much of which is above water, and contains six road lanes--and was completed by 1998. Must see a place for photographers. It has a beautiful view at sunset. There are piers and well organized trails for taking pictures. It's 7.671 miles long.
