The Abílio Museum was inaugurated by María José Salavisa, the artist's wife, about 10 years ago. It is located in the Pacos do Concelho building, which was used as City Hall, Palace of Justice and prison until 2004. The artist Abílio de Mattos y Silva was not a native of Óbidos, but his wife, María José Salavisa, was.

Abílio Mattos e Silva Museum ... that we visited in Óbidos. Abílio Mattos Silva was a painter, set designer and costume designer, that although he was born in Sardoal, (1908 - 1985) chose to live in Óbidos, where he was raised. His life was dedicated to the arts: painting, theater and opera.
