Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools
A tropical paradise created by natural phenomena, Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools sit in the nonwestern section of Madeira near the small town of Porto Moniz. These volcanic pools, formed ages ago by lava flow meeting the waters of the Atlantic, attract swimmers from around the world with their natural layout and sweeping views of the ocean. The surrounding rocks reflect in the crystalline pools, creating an impression of an underwater world filled with craggy stone pillars. Try to time your visit for late afternoon or early evening, when the reflections of the setting sun blur the line between sky and water. Our Porto Moniz online trip builder makes visiting Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools and other Porto Moniz attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

It was too cold to join the brave souls enjoying the pools but what a great place to watch both people and an incredibly scenic spot. If anybody gives a lousy review it would be miraculous. This...

This is a beautiful place and magical to experience. You have to be lucky with the weather, especially twds the end of the year. We were lucky and the water was not as cold as i thought it might...

Three euros for an entire day of nice (cold) water. So refreshing and a nice view too. A bit too windy for our taste, but well worth it. Can be busy at times. There is however a lot of space.

Beautiful landscape with volcanic pools where you can swim - just take off your clothes and put on a bikini. There are 2 pools here - one free of charge - which I visited, they are really natural and you can not only eat and drink well in the restaurant next door, but you can also use the toilet inside - and you can go to the next side for a small fee (I think it was between 1-2€ entrance fee) in adapted pools with all the trimmings - both nice, of course only the free ones - but there you can enjoy everything with crawling crabs and rocks around - a must in Porto Muniz - just have fun looking for a parking space - you better pay, free parking spaces are really hard to find, although there is a free parking space close by - it is always full! Next to it there is a 5€ day ticket car park.
