Create an itinerary including Praia da ursa
View a beach of spectacular natural beauty at Praia da ursa, where thousands of years of the Atlantic's wind and waves have carved the rocks and cliffs into interesting shapes, including a huge stone in the form of a bear. Located in the Natural Park of Sintra, this piece of shoreline--Europe's westernmost beach--can be difficult to access due to the steep, rocky hill leading down to it. Once at the bottom, explore the sandy shore and blue, albeit cold, waters. Nudists favor this attraction for its hard-to-reach location. Consider delaying your visit if the weather is rainy, because the climb becomes too slippery to travel here safely. See Praia da ursa and all Sintra has to offer by arranging your trip with our Sintra online trip builder.

  • Some tips: 1. Wear snickers, not sandals or flip flops, as you can slip. 2. The climb is a bit steep on some areas, so you will need to rely on your legs and hands. 3. There are no amenities on...

  • Beach immersed in a completely wild environment, difficult to reach except through a rather demanding walking-path. There is a small strip of sand which is eaten up by the ocean at high tide and leaves no connection with the mainland. The spectacle of the waves breaking on the coast is evocative and hypnotic.
  • What a stunning place! This is one of the top views in Portugal, a stunning beach with a very unique landscape! It's in the west area, so be mindful of weather, might not be always amazing! But its totally worth the detour and is just next to cabo da roca. You can do the small hike and go down to the beach. Its really really nice! Totally worth it.
