The historic Sintra National Palace represents the most well-preserved medieval palace in Portugal. You can tour the palace, which was named a National Monument and World Heritage Site, for a closer look at the preservation and restoration. This castle dates back to the 10th century and was inhabited from at least the 15th through 19th centuries. While it was built in Moorish times, its architectural style is a result of rebuilding in the 1400s. View the mixture of Gothic, Manueline, Mudéjar, and Moorish style present today, as well as decorative ceramic tiles added to the site during the Age of Discoveries. • Pena Catle is great but this one is a must in Sintra too. Do not forget to visit this obe🙏 Being restored it is a pitty that they are not working on the upper floor. In any case a great expierience.

  • My wife and took the basic tour and walked through the palace. It was October and not crowded at all. The tile work is amazing and I really enjoyed the garden, which is free / you can enter without....  more

  • Not to be mixed up with the palace of Pena which is on the mountain! This palace is way nicer to visit and there is a lot more inside. It foes not have the same views as the other palace but it is way more accessible and interesting. This palace is for those interesting in learning a bit more about the Portuguese royal family. This place is not a tourist trap and brings people a lot of new and amazing facts about the Portuguese royals. When in Sinatra this is a must!
  • Palace in itself is quite big and takes time to roam around the whole inner area. History has been very well kept with all the signs. Views of the village from the balcony were a thing to watch. Movement through the palace was swift and guided. All basic facilities and knowledge boards which kept us involved with the things that we were looking at.
