An absolute "must see" if you visit. Please be warned that he story of Gwanju's uprising is harrowing, yet hugely significant. The heart of the townspeople during the whole event is something that the community are very proud of. We were very lucky that upon arrival here we were greeted by a free guide who had lived through the uprising and gave us a personal account of his and his friend's and family's experience. He walked us through the park and showed us the graves of the known and unknown victims, the monuments and their significance, and guided us through the exhibition hall.
