Part of a larger site built to commemorate the 17th FIFA World Cup, the lofty Haneul Park affords panoramic views of the site and mountains beyond. The park was actually built on a 15-year-old landfill site, which held 92 million tons of garbage. Haneul Park was built on the highest mountain of trash, which has been utterly transformed into a verdant hill, covered in various trees and flowering shrubs and grasses. Check out the various viewing platforms as you take the walkway to the top of the hill, and look out for the five wind-powered generators that feed the park its energy. A lot of effort to climb the stairs but gorgeous views of Seoul once you're up there. We also saw a deer, which jumped out of the tall grass and terrified us, and some cute baby pheasants. The silver grass festival is especially good there.

Very nice view. The day was clear the place packed. A nice place for a walk. A warning: Too many couples endlessly taking pictures. Either dont care at all and keep walking or care and be interrupted constantly.
