In close proximity to the harbor, Shell Beach distinguishes itself with millions of seashells that cover its sand. Overlooked by an old fort, the small lagoon offers a nice spot for swimming, relaxing, and, of course, collecting colorful shells and seaglass. Hang out and have a tasty meal at the popular bar and restaurant on site; sunbathe; or try snorkeling in the crystal clear water. Don't forget to bring sandals or flip-flops, as the shells can be uncomfortable to walk on. Make Shell Beach part of your personalized Gustavia itinerary using our Gustavia trip planner.

It’s a nice beach but because it’s the closest to the port it’s very busy. There is a restaurant right facing it and you can rent lounger and umbrella for €70 per person. It’s not a soft send alone.... more

If you're looking for a great beach on St Barth this one is easy to reach. If you're visiting from surrounding islands by ferry it is within easy walking distance from the port. Hiring a cab to get around the island can be expensive - between €20-€30 for a 10 minute drive. If you're not a confident driver I highly recommend the cab/taxi as the hills can be difficult to negotiate and the roads quite narrow and steep. The water clarity at Shell Beach is amazing, so be sure to take your snorkeling gear along with you! If you have sensitive feet be sure to wear protective swimming shoes on the beach as the beach is largely made up of broken shell and can be rough on one's feet. Be sure to take enough water with you if you wish to save on drinks etc as the prices on St Barth can be quite high. On the upside beer was €1 a bottle at the local supermarket located opposite the port. Take plenty of sunblock! This beach is awesome! Have a great time and let me know how you rate your experience!

Beautiful secluded and private beach. Millions of shells as advertised and the water is crystal clear. Due to the many shells, bring water shoes as the shells will hurt your feet. There is a restaurant being remodeled nearby but if not there is nowhere to change clothes, so either do so before hand or use the big boulders on the beach to go behind, again there's tons of privacy on this beach.
