Horta is a single municipality and city in the western part of the Archipelago of the Azores, encompassing the island of Faial. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Pico Mountain (Montanha do Pico) and The Marina of Horta. Get in touch with nature at Praia do Porto Pim and Vulcão dos Capelinhos. Explore Horta's surroundings by going to Picowines (in Madalena) and Lagoa do Capitao (in Sao Roque do Pico). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Parque de Campismo da Praia do Almoxarife, see the interesting displays at Centro de Interpretacao do Vulcao dos Capelinhos, get great views at Miradouro da Ribeira das Cabras, and Head underground at Gruta das Torres.
