Kyrenia — 5 nights

Famous for its natural port and Byzantine castle, Kyrenia is not only a lovely old Venetian town, but also the most visited tourist destination in Northern Cyprus.
Popular historic sites such as Bellapais Monastery and Saint Hilarion Castle are in your itinerary. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at St Andrew's Church and The Round Tower. Next up on the itinerary: step into the grandiose world of Kyrenia Castle, pause for some serene contemplation at Chysopolitissa church, take an in-depth tour of Ancient Shipwreck Museum, and tour the water at your own pace with Vela Yachting.

To find other places to visit, traveler tips, maps, and tourist information, refer to the Kyrenia trip itinerary builder tool.

Brisbane, Australia to Kyrenia is an approximately 31-hour combination of flight and car. The time zone difference moving from Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) to Eastern European Standard Time (EET) is minus 8 hours. While traveling from Brisbane, expect somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Kyrenia, ranging from highs of 33°C to lows of 19°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Mon) to allow time to drive to Famagusta.

Famagusta — 3 nights

Just east of the capital sits Famagusta, an ancient port city with archaeological attractions, as well as an abandoned quarter that is popular among tourists as a symbol of the conflict between Turks and Greeks.
Sea Gate and St Barnabas Monastery and Icon Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Salamis Ancient City and Monastery of Apostolos Varnavas. Next up on the itinerary: mingle with the ghosts of the past at Ghost Town Varosha, get engrossed in the history at NamIk Kemal ZindanI ve Muzesi, steep yourself in history at Ay Trias Bassilica, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque.

For other places to visit, more things to do, where to stay, and other tourist information, use the Famagusta trip app.
