Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Venture out of the city with trips to Sintra (Park and National Palace of Pena, Sintra National Palace, &more). There's still lots to do: admire nature's wide array of creatures at Lisbon Oceanarium, don't miss a visit to Belém Tower, take a stroll through Alfama, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Mosteiro dos Jeronimos.

The university town of Coimbra exudes modern flair while embracing its roots as the medieval capital of Portugal.
On the 16th (Mon), steep yourself in history at Igreja e Mosteiro da Santa Cruz, pause for some serene contemplation at Coro Paroquial da Sé Nova de Coimbra, then take in the architecture and design of University of Coimbra, and finally admire the natural beauty at Jardim Botanico. Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names.
Porto is known for sightseeing, shopping, and historic sites.
