One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Pack the 11th (Wed) with family-friendly diversions at Lotte World. Next up on the itinerary: contemplate the long history of Gyeongbokgung Palace, shop like a local with Namdaemun Market, wander the streets of Bukchon Hanok Village, and take some stellar pictures from N Seoul Tower.

Daegu — 2 nights

The fourth-largest city in South Korea, Daegu sprawls out across a wide, flat valley overlooked by a sacred Buddhist mountain.
Change things up with a short trip to Haeinsa in Hapcheon-Gun (about 1h 25 min away). There's lots more to do: hunt for treasures at Seomun Market, take in the spiritual surroundings of Donghwasa, take in panoramic vistas at 83 Tower, and admire nature's wide array of creatures at Alive Aquarium Daegu.

You can take a train from Seoul to Daegu in 2.5 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. Traveling from Seoul in January, things will get somewhat warmer in Daegu: highs are around 6°C and lows about -3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Sun) to allow enough time to take a train to Busan.

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Busan is known for sightseeing, beaches, and shopping. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: enjoy the sand and surf at Haeundae Beach, don't miss a visit to BIFF Square, stroll the grounds of UN Memorial Cemetery, and take some stellar pictures from Taejongdae.
