Singapore, Singapore to Asahikawa is an approximately 13-hour combination of flight and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Singapore to Asahikawa. Traveling from Singapore in August, expect Asahikawa to be a bit cooler, temps between 27°C and 26°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 29th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Shimukappu-mura.

On the 29th (Tue), stop by Michi-no-Eki Shizen Taikan Shimukappu and then explore the stunning scenery at Akaiwa Seigan Canyon.

Traveling by car from Asahikawa to Shimukappu-mura takes 2.5 hours. In August, plan for daily highs up to 26°C, and evening lows to 23°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 31st (Thu) so you can go by car to Noboribetsu.

Perhaps the island's best-known hot spring resort, Noboribetsu has a long history of tourism.

Getting from Shimukappu-mura to Noboribetsu by car takes about 3 hours. In August in Noboribetsu, expect temperatures between 27°C during the day and 22°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Thu) so you can drive to Hakodate.

A gateway to the island, Hakodate has gained a reputation for its waterfront attractions, its proximity to some of the island's most popular natural sites, and its seafood.

On the 1st (Fri), wander the streets of Motomachi, contemplate the long history of The Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, then admire the landmark architecture of Kaido Kaikan, then explore the galleries of Goryokaku Tower, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Goryokaku Park. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 2nd (Sat): don't miss a visit to Hachimanzaka, then stop by Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse, then pause for some photo ops at Hokkaido Dai Ippo no Chi Monument, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Hakodate.

Drive from Noboribetsu to Hakodate in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. In August, daily temperatures in Hakodate can reach 28°C, while at night they dip to 23°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sun) to allow time to fly to Sapporo.

A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.

Bring the kids along to Odori Park and Sapporo Clock Tower. Step out of Sapporo to go to Otaru and see Otaru Canal, which is approximately 46 minutes away. There's much more to do: take in the architecture and design of Hokkaido University Sapporo Campus, get engrossed in the history at Karafuto Kankei Museum, take some stellar pictures from Sapporo TV Tower, and get into the urban bustle at Sapporo Underground Shopping Centre Aurora Town.

Getting from Hakodate to Sapporo by flight takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a train. Expect a daytime high around 23°C in September, and nighttime lows around 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Wed) early enough to drive to Chitose.

With the largest international airport on the island, Chitose serves for most visitors as a way in or a way out, rather than a destination in itself.

Start off your visit on the 6th (Wed): observe the fascinating underwater world at Salmon Hometown Chitose Aquarium, indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, then have some family-friendly fun at Doraemon Wakuwaku Sky Park, then see the interesting displays at Royce' Chocolate World, and finally see the interesting displays at Sky Museum, New Chitose Airport. Keep things going the next day: see the interesting displays at Airport History Museum, explore the activities along Lake Shikotsu, and then make a trip to Tomakomai City Midorigaoka Park Observation Deck.

Drive from Sapporo to Chitose in an hour. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Expect little chillier evenings in Chitose when traveling from Sapporo in September, with lows around 14°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
