Kyoto — 14 nights

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kyoto Railway Museum and Sanzen-in Temple. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Suzuka Circuit (in Suzuka), Horyu-ji Temple (in Ikaruga-cho) and Osaka (Food Tours, Umeda Sky Building, &more). There's much more to do: get the lay of the land with Walking tours, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tenryuji Temple, take in nature's colorful creations at Nanzen-ji Temple, and make a trip to Eikando Zenrinji Temple.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major aiports are Osaka International Airport, Kansai International Airport and Chubu Centrair International Airport. In September, plan for daily highs up to 33°C, and evening lows to 23°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Sun) so you can travel back home.
