Seoul — 4 nights

One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Gyeongbokgung Palace and Hwaseong Fortress will appeal to history buffs. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Trickeye Museum Seoul and National Folk Museum of Korea. Next up on the itinerary: stroll through Changdeokgung Palace, don't miss a visit to Myeongdong Shopping Street, take a stroll through Insadong, and visit Bukchon Hanok Village.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Seoul is an approximately 14.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 8 hours traveling from Amsterdam to Seoul. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from Amsterdam in October, with highs in Seoul at 22°C and lows at 21°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Andong.

Sitting along either side of the Nakdong River, Andong maintains an unrivalled reputation as a center for Korean folk and cultural heritage.
On the 7th (Fri), take in the spiritual surroundings of Bongjeongsa and then steep yourself in history at Andong Hahoe Folk Village.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Cheonmachong Tomb and Bulguksa Temple. Do some cultural sightseeing at Gyeongju Historic Area and Gyeongju National Museum. There's more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond and appreciate the history behind Seokguram.

Getting from Andong to Gyeongju by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a bus; or take a train. In October, daytime highs in Gyeongju are 23°C, while nighttime lows are 18°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Mon) so you can drive to Busan.

Busan — 2 nights

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Tue): make a trip to Gwangandaegyo Bridge, take in the spiritual surroundings of Haedong Yonggungsa, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Beomeosa Temple. Here are some ideas for day two: admire the masterpieces at Busan Museum of Art, then stroll the grounds of UN Memorial Cemetery, and then get great views at Taejongdae.

You can drive from Gyeongju to Busan in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. In October, daily temperatures in Busan can reach 26°C, while at night they dip to 15°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Wed) so you can catch the flight to Jeju.

Jeju, Jeju Island — 4 nights

The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju, has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO. The World Heritage-listed volcanic island includes the country's highest peak, sets of impressive lava tubes and columns, and several crater lakes.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Yakchunsa Temple and Gwaneumsa Temple. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Alive Museum Jeju and Hyeopjae Beach. Explore Jeju's surroundings by going to Seogwipo (Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff & Jeongbang Waterfall). There's still lots to do: take a peaceful walk through Bijarim Forest.

Traveling by flight from Busan to Jeju takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train, taxi, and ferry. Expect a bit warmer evenings in Jeju when traveling from Busan in October, with lows around 23°C. On the 16th (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
