Salalah — 3 nights

The Sultanate's second city, Salalah has become known as a southerly counterpoint to the capital in the north.
Get some historical perspective at Sultan Qaboos Mosque and Taqah Castle. Visit Al Mughsail Beach and Al Fizayah Beach for some beach relaxation. The adventure continues: see the interesting displays at Museum of the Frankincense Land, look for all kinds of wild species at ABT Divers, and head outdoors with Wadi Darbat.

Amman, Jordan to Salalah is an approximately 9-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone difference moving from Eastern European Standard Time (EET) to Gulf Standard Time (GST) is 2 hours. Traveling from Amman in January, things will get warmer in Salalah: highs are around 32°C and lows about 22°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 20th (Thu) so you can catch the flight to Nizwa.

Once the capital of the sultanate, Nizwa stands as one of the longest-established urban areas in the country, and has retained its traditional core.
Nizwa Fort and Jibreen Castle will appeal to history buffs. Head to Nizwa Souk and Nizwa Grand Mallfor some retail therapy. When in Nizwa, make a side trip to see Al Hoota Cave in Al Hamra, approximately Al Hamra away.
