Island of the Gods

The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju, has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO. The World Heritage-listed volcanic island includes the country's highest peak, sets of impressive lava tubes and columns, and several crater lakes.
Get outdoors at Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff and Hamdeok Beach. Step off the beaten path and head to Hyeopjae Beach and Hallim Park. Get out of town with these interesting Jeju side-trips: Seogwipo (Halla Mountain, Jeongbang Waterfall, &more). There's more to do: explore the fascinating underground world of Manjanggul Cave and take in nature's colorful creations at Kim Kyung-Sook Sunflower Farm.

Zagreb, Croatia to Jeju is an approximately 20.5-hour flight. The time zone difference when traveling from Zagreb to Jeju is 8 hours. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Tue) early enough to catch the flight to Busan.

Busan — 2 nights

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Wed): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Beomeosa Temple, head outdoors with Haeundae Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Gwangalli Beach. Keep things going the next day: stroll the grounds of UN Memorial Cemetery, get great views at Taejongdae, then get great views at Cheongsapo Daritdol Observatory, and finally take in the views from Gwangandaegyo Bridge.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
On the 5th (Fri), explore the activities along Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, then appreciate the history behind Seokguram, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Bulguksa Temple. Here are some ideas for day two: steep yourself in history at Yangdong Folk Village, steep yourself in history at Oksanseowon Confucian Academy, then examine the collection at Gyeongju National Museum, then contemplate the long history of Gyeongju Historic Area, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Gyeongju Hyanggyo.

You can drive from Busan to Gyeongju in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or take a train. Traveling from Busan in April, you will find days in Gyeongju are little chillier (14°C), and nights are somewhat warmer (14°C). Finish up your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sat) so you can go by car to Andong.

Andong — 3 nights

Capital City of Korean Spiritual Culture

Sitting along either side of the Nakdong River, Andong maintains an unrivalled reputation as a center for Korean folk and cultural heritage.
Popular historic sites such as Andong Hahoe Folk Village and Bongjeongsa are in your itinerary. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Gounsa Temple and Museom Village. Change things up with a short trip to Sosuseowon Confucian Academy in Yeongju (about 1h 20 min away). The adventure continues: wander the streets of Andong Gunja Village, contemplate the long history of Dosanseowon Confucian School, and examine the collection at Andong Folk Museum.

You can drive from Gyeongju to Andong in 2 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or take a train. Expect a daytime high around 14°C in April, and nighttime lows around 14°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Tue) to allow time to drive to Gangneung.

A large coastal city, Gangneung has been historically separated from much of the country because of the long, stretching mountain range that runs parallel to the sea.
Kick off your visit on the 10th (Wed): examine the collection at Ojukheon, enjoy the sand and surf at Gangmun Beach, and then head outdoors with Gyeongpo Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 11th (Thu): enjoy the sand and surf at Sacheonjin Beach, then get outside with Anmok Beach, and then hike along Jeongdong-Simgok Badabuchae-gil Trail.
