One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Change things up with a short trip to DMZ Haemaru Village in Paju (about 1h 25 min away). The adventure continues: get engrossed in the history at Gyeongbokgung Palace, make a trip to Insadong, shop like a local with Namdaemun Market, and visit Bukchon Hanok Village.

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Busan: Gyeongju (Bulguksa Temple & Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond). There's lots more to do: get outside with Haeundae Beach, enjoy the sand and surf at Gwangalli Beach, take some stellar pictures from Taejongdae, and take an in-depth tour of Bokcheon Museum.

Traveling by flight from Seoul to Busan takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Traveling from Seoul in October, expect nights in Busan to be a bit cooler, around 15°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 26°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Thu) to allow time to fly to Jeju.

Island of the Gods

The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju, has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO. The World Heritage-listed volcanic island includes the country's highest peak, sets of impressive lava tubes and columns, and several crater lakes.
Venture out of the city with trips to Seogwipo (O’sulloc Tea Museum, Gasiri Wind Power Plant, &more). And it doesn't end there: Head underground at Manjanggul Cave, walk around Sarabong Park, admire the landmark architecture of Bangju Church, and kick back and relax at Hamdeok Beach.

You can fly from Busan to Jeju in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train, taxi, and ferry. Traveling from Busan in October, Jeju is somewhat warmer at night with lows of 23°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Fri) early enough to fly back home.
