The capital of the country's northernmost province, the city of Chuncheon acts a gateway to the wilder sights of the rural region.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Gangchon Rail Park. A large coastal city, Gangneung has been historically separated from much of the country because of the long, stretching mountain range that runs parallel to the sea.
Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Wed): steep yourself in history at Gyeongpodae, get engrossed in the history at Heogyun and Heonanseolheon Memorial Hall, wander the streets of Chodang Sundubu Village, then see the interesting displays at Ojukheon, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Woljeongsa Temple.
