Wellington, the world's southernmost capital city and New Zealand's second most populous urban area, combines the nation's rugged history and nature with its modern and cosmopolitan present.
Start off your visit on the 31st (Fri): ponder the world of politics at Old Government Buildings, admire the natural beauty at Wellington Botanic Garden, pause for some photo ops at Paddy the Wanderer Monument, then take an in-depth tour of Wellington Museum, and finally take a stroll through Cuba Street. On the next day, get a sense of history and politics at The Supreme Court of New Zealand, then admire the striking features of Old St Paul's, then look for all kinds of wild species at ZEALANDIA Ecosanctuary, and finally get great views at Mount Victoria.

Cape Town, South Africa to Wellington is an approximately 28-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from South Africa Standard Time (SAST) to New Zealand Standard Time (NZST) is 10 hours. When traveling from Cape Town in March, plan for little chillier days in Wellington, with highs around 22°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 16°C. You'll have a few hours on the 2nd (Sun) to wrap things up before traveling to Nelson.
