The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
Bring the kids along to Gediminas Castle Tower and KGB Museum (Genocido Auku Muziejus). When in Vilnius, make a side trip to see Trakai Island Castle Museum in Trakai, approximately Trakai away. There's lots more to do: wander the streets of Vilnius Old Town, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Hill of Three Crosses, go on a hair-raising tour with a ghost and vampire tour, and squeeze the most out of the city with City Tours.

Palanga is a seaside resort town in western Lithuania, on the shore of the Baltic Sea. Bring the kids along to Palanga Beach and Dino parkas Radailiai. Venture out of the city with trips to Klaipeda (Smiltyne Beach, Lithuanian Sea Museum, &more). The adventure continues: take in nature's colorful creations at Birute Park, walk around Birute's Hill, pause for some photo ops at Sculpture Fisherman's Daughters, and take an in-depth tour of Vinetu Kaimas.
