Sokcho — 5 nights

Tourism in Sokcho mostly revolves around the local national park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
You've added Sokcho Lighthouse Observatory, Goseong Unification Observatory, The 4th Tunnel, and other attractions to your itinerary. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sokcho: Yangyang-gun (Naksansa Temple & Naksan Beach). There's still lots to do: explore the striking landscape of Seoraksan National Park, take in the spiritual surroundings of Sinheungsa Temple, hunt for treasures at Sokcho Central Market, and steep yourself in history at Gwongeumseong Fortress.

Drive from Seoul to Sokcho in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or take a bus. Traveling from Seoul in September, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Sokcho, with lows of 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Sun) early enough to drive to Gangneung.

Gangneung — 2 nights

A large coastal city, Gangneung has been historically separated from much of the country because of the long, stretching mountain range that runs parallel to the sea.
You've added Gangneung Jungang Market, Anmok Beach, Daegwallyeong Sky Ranch, and other attractions to your itinerary. On the 25th (Sun), enjoy the sand and surf at Jumunjin Beach, take a leisurely stroll along Jumunjin Port, then hunt for treasures at Gangneung Jungang Market, and finally steep yourself in history at Gyeongpodae. On your second day here, wander the wide-open spaces of Daegwanryeong Samyang Ranch, look for all kinds of wild species at Daegwallyeong Sheep Ranch, then don't miss a visit to Daegwallyeong Sky Ranch, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Gangmun Beach.

Traveling by car from Sokcho to Gangneung takes an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 23°C in September, and nighttime lows around 22°C. On the 27th (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Chuncheon.

The capital of the country's northernmost province, the city of Chuncheon acts a gateway to the wilder sights of the rural region.
