Muscat — 24 nights

The capital and largest city of Oman, the coastal city of Muscat boasts numerous historical sites and pristine modern developments.
Family-friendly places like Al Sifah Beach and Al Mouj Golf will thrill your kids. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Spas and Room Escape Games. Explore Muscat's surroundings by going to Barka (Barka Bull Fight Arena, Barka Grand Center, &more), Al Thowarah Hot Springs (in Nakhl) and Wakan Village (in Sohar). Make the 17th (Sat) a memorable day with a climbing tour. There's much more to do: indulge in some culinary diversions at a local gastronomic tour, step into the grandiose world of Al Hazm Castle, tour the pleasant surroundings at Pebble Beach, and take in the exciting artwork at Murtada A.K. Trading kadok.

For traveler tips, reviews, maps, and tourist information, use the Muscat day trip planner.

In September in Muscat, expect temperatures between 41°C during the day and 33°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 8th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.

Oman travel guide

4.4
Sacred & Religious Sites · Beaches · Flea Markets
Underdeveloped and largely ignored by foreign visitors until the 1970s, Oman now represents one of the region's top vacation destinations, attracting tourists with its pretty beaches, impressive dunes, and friendly mountain villages. A tour of Oman allows travelers to discover a traditional Middle Eastern way of life, authentic cuisine, and thriving urban centers where centuries-old heritage meets every modern amenity under the sun. In a country of well-maintained roads, many visitors choose to drive from one city to the next, where a typical Oman itinerary will include World Heritage Sites, historic forts, modern beaches, and an eclectic dining scene.
