Just east of the capital sits Famagusta, an ancient port city with archaeological attractions, as well as an abandoned quarter that is popular among tourists as a symbol of the conflict between Turks and Greeks.

Larnaca to Famagusta is an approximately 1-hour car ride. You can also drive; or take a bus. In December in Famagusta, expect temperatures between 21°C during the day and 11°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) so you can go by car to Kyrenia.

Famous for its natural port and Byzantine castle, Kyrenia is not only a lovely old Venetian town, but also the most visited tourist destination in Northern Cyprus.

On the 10th (Sat), get engrossed in the history at Ancient Shipwreck Museum, contemplate the long history of Kyrenia Castle, then explore the activities along Kyrenia Harbour, and finally make a trip to Agha Cafar Pasha Mosque. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Archangelos Michael Church, then contemplate the long history of Bellapais Monastery, then step into the grandiose world of Saint Hilarion Castle, and finally learn about winemaking at Etel Winery.
