Hobart — 33 nights

Tasmania's Capital City

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Get out of town with these interesting Hobart side-trips: Port Arthur (Safety Cove Beach, Port Arthur Historic Site, &more), Snug Bushfire Memorial (in Snug) and Raptor Refuge (in Kettering). On the 7th (Mon), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. Dedicate the 15th (Tue) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. Next up on the itinerary: look for all kinds of wild species at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, get curious at Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, take in the awesome beauty at Mount Wellington, and shop like a local with Salamanca Market.

Adelaide to Hobart is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of bus and ferry. The time zone changes from Australian Central Standard Time (ACST) to Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST), which is usually a 0.5 hour difference. Traveling from Adelaide in November, things will get slightly colder in Hobart: highs are around 22°C and lows about 11°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) so you can catch the flight back home.
