Asahikawa — 5 nights

Perched on the confluence of four rivers and surrounded by green hills, Asahikawa combines a modern city experience with the pristine nature nearby.
Step off the beaten path and head to Sounkyo Gorge and Asahikawa Station. Get out of town with these interesting Asahikawa side-trips: Higashikawa-cho (Sugatami no Ike Lake, Asahi-dake, &more), Kamikawa-cho (Daisetsuzan, Daisetsu Kogen Swamp, &more) and Ken & Mary Tree (in Biei-cho). There's still lots to do: admire nature's wide array of creatures at Asahiyama Zoo, take an in-depth tour of Asahikawashi Museum, fly down the slopes at Inosawa Ski Resort, and look for all kinds of wild species at Viva Alpaca Farm.

Singapore, Singapore to Asahikawa is an approximately 13-hour combination of flight and train. The time zone difference moving from Singapore Standard Time to Japan Standard Time is 1 hour. In February, Asahikawa is cooler than Singapore - with highs of -5°C and lows of -7°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Sat) to allow time to drive to Furano.

Situated in the center of the island, Furano has become known for its idyllic rural landscape, and the drastic changes it experiences as seasons shift.
Step off the beaten path and head to Furano Ski Resort and Furabi. Get out of town with these interesting Furano side-trips: Kamifurano-cho (Goto Sumio Art Museum & Sembo Pass) and Biei-cho (Shinei no Oka Tenbo Koen, Shikisai no Oka, &more). Traveling by car from Asahikawa to Furano takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Traveling from Asahikawa in February, Furano is a bit cooler at night with lows of -12°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 14th (Tue) so you can go by car to Obihiro.

Tourism in Shari-cho, a small town situated on Hokkaido's eastern tip, flourishes mainly because of its immediate proximity to the Shiretoko World Heritage Site.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Shiretoko Beach and Furepe Waterfall. Get out of town with these interesting Shari-cho side-trips: Rausu-cho (Shiretoko Ryojo Monument, Kuma no Yu, &more). Ranking as the most popular ski resort in Hokkaido, mountaintop Niseko-cho boasts great slopes and surprisingly vibrant nightlife.
Explore hidden gems such as Rusutsu Resort Ski and Lake Toya. Go for a jaunt from Niseko-cho to Kutchan-cho to see Niseko Hanazono Resort about 30 minutes away.
