The capital of the country's northernmost province, the city of Chuncheon acts a gateway to the wilder sights of the rural region.
Explore Chuncheon's surroundings by going to Baekdamsa Temple (in Inje-gun), Osaek Jujeongol Valley (in Yangyang-gun) and Petite France (in Gapyeong-gun). Next up on the itinerary: step off the mainland to explore Nami Island, admire the natural beauty at Jade Garden Natural Arboretum, cool off at Aqua World, and get to know the resident critters at Daegwallyeong Agi Mokjang.

You can drive from Seoul to Chuncheon in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or take a subway. In March, daily temperatures in Chuncheon can reach 13°C, while at night they dip to 1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Cheongju.

The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju, has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO. The World Heritage-listed volcanic island includes the country's highest peak, sets of impressive lava tubes and columns, and several crater lakes.
Explore Jeju's surroundings by going to Seogwipo (Gwangchigi Beach, Seongsan Ilchulbong, &more). There's much more to do: head off the coast to Udo, walk around Bijarim Forest, explore the world behind art at Jeju Folk Museum, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Gwaneumsa Temple.

Getting from Busan to Gyeongju by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or take a train. Expect a bit cooler weather when traveling from Busan in April: highs in Gyeongju hover around 14°C, while lows dip to 14°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Thu) to allow time to fly back home.
