Famous for its resemblance to the ancient settlements of Jerusalem and Cappadocia, Matera remains one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world.
Explore Matera's surroundings by going to Setteventi del Pollino (in Civita), Museo Archeologico di Broglio (in Trebisacce) and TEMPERE Azienda Vitivinicola f.lli Pica (in Salerno). There's still lots to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of Sassi di Matera, examine the collection at MOOM Matera Olive Oil Museum, admire the landmark architecture of Cattedrale di Matera, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Casa Grotta di Vico Solitario.

Naples is the capital of the Italian region Campania and the third-largest municipality in Italy after Rome and Milan. Get out of town with these interesting Naples side-trips: Paestum (Archaeological Park of Paestum & Torre di Paestum), Museo Acropolis (in Agropoli) and Pompeii (Forum Baths, Terme del Foro, &more).
