Khasab — 3 nights

A lively provincial capital, Khasab has been termed the "Norway of Arabia," because of its dramatic coastline, where dramatic inlets resemble the fjords of Scandinavia.
Step out of Khasab with an excursion to Bukha Fort in Bukha--about 36 minutes away. There's much more to do: get close to the beloved marine mammals with a swim-with-the-dolphins experience, step into the grandiose world of Festung Cacapo, explore the activities along Khawr Najd, and make a trip to Khasab Fort.

Traveling from Khasab in January, you will find days in Salalah are somewhat warmer (32°C), and nights are about the same (22°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Thu) so you can fly to Nizwa.

Nizwa — 5 nights

Once the capital of the sultanate, Nizwa stands as one of the longest-established urban areas in the country, and has retained its traditional core.
Venture out of the city with trips to Al Hamra (Al Hoota Cave, Jebel Shams, &more). The adventure continues: get to know the fascinating history of Nizwa Fort, browse the different shops at Nizwa Grand Mall, steep yourself in history at Falaj Daris Park, and don't miss a visit to Harat al Bilad.

You can fly from Salalah to Nizwa in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. In January, Nizwa is much colder than Salalah - with highs of 18°C and lows of 6°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 31st (Tue) early enough to go by car to Nakhl.

Sur is a capital city of Ash Sharqiyah Region, northeastern Oman, on the coast of the Gulf of Oman. You can drive from Nakhl to Sur in 3.5 hours. Prepare for much hotter weather when traveling from Nakhl in February: high temperatures in Sur hover around 32°C and lows are around 22°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Sun) early enough to travel to Muscat.
