You can fly from Hakodate to Sapporo in 2.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a train. In June, plan for daily highs up to 20°C, and evening lows to 19°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Wed) early enough to catch the flight to Wakkanai.

The northernmost city in the country, Wakkanai experiences constant exposure to the elements, with windy and snow-covered winters perhaps its main claim to fame on a national level.

Traveling from Sapporo in June, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be slightly colder in Wakkanai, with lows of 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Sun) early enough to fly to Shari-cho.

Tourism in Shari-cho, a small town situated on Hokkaido's eastern tip, flourishes mainly because of its immediate proximity to the Shiretoko World Heritage Site.

Explore Shari-cho's surroundings by going to Kiyosato-cho (Uchu Observation Tower & Shiretoko Tourist), Betsukai-cho (Notsuke Peninsula, Hama no Yu, &more) and Lake Rausu (in Rausu-cho). Traveling by flight from Wakkanai to Shari-cho takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. In June in Shari-cho, expect temperatures between 20°C during the day and 14°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Fri) early enough to drive to Teshikaga-cho.

You can drive from Shari-cho to Teshikaga-cho in 1.5 hours. Another option is to take a train. In June, daily temperatures in Teshikaga-cho can reach 20°C, while at night they dip to 14°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Kushiro.

Kushiro first developed as an industrial hub thanks to its relatively ice-free harbor, and has since also become known as a transport hub for journeys to the east of the island.

Traveling by car from Teshikaga-cho to Kushiro takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. June in Kushiro sees daily highs of 18°C and lows of 11°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Sun) so you can catch the flight to Noboribetsu.

Perhaps the island's best-known hot spring resort, Noboribetsu has a long history of tourism.

You can fly from Kushiro to Noboribetsu in 2.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a train. Expect a daytime high around 26°C in July, and nighttime lows around 19°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Fri) so you can go by car to Kutchan-cho.

Kutchan-cho's reputation rests on two things: skiing and potatoes.

Getting from Noboribetsu to Kutchan-cho by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: do a combination of train and bus; or take a train. Traveling from Noboribetsu in July, expect somewhat warmer with lows of 24°C in Kutchan-cho. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Wed) early enough to drive to Obihiro.

Drive from Kutchan-cho to Obihiro in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of train and bus. In July, daytime highs in Obihiro are 24°C, while nighttime lows are 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Tue) so you can drive to Furano.

Situated in the center of the island, Furano has become known for its idyllic rural landscape, and the drastic changes it experiences as seasons shift.

Explore Furano's surroundings by going to Kamifurano-cho (Onsen Resorts, Kamifurano Miharashidai Park, &more), Biei-cho (Shirahige Falls, Shirogane Blue Pond, &more) and Minamifurano-cho (Lake Kanayama & Kanayamako Forest Park). Drive from Obihiro to Furano in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Obihiro in July: highs in Furano hover around 30°C, while lows dip to 21°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Sun) early enough to drive to Asahikawa.

Perched on the confluence of four rivers and surrounded by green hills, Asahikawa combines a modern city experience with the pristine nature nearby.
