Change things up with a short trip to Nakhal Fort in Nakhl (about 1h 15 min away). On the 29th (Wed), spend a fun day on foot with Walking tours. There's lots more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, get a sense of history and politics at Al Alam Palace, walk around Qurum Natural Park, and examine the collection at Bait Al Zubair.
