The third-largest city in the country, Incheon combines history and culture in an interesting whole.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Incheon: Seoul (National Folk Museum of Korea, Insadong, &more), Sammaksa Valley (in Anyang) and Gwangmyeong Cave (in Gwangmyeong). There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at DMZ Haemaru Village, deepen your understanding at Anseong Namsadang Training Center, don't miss a visit to Hwaseong Fortress, and take a peaceful walk through Korea National Arboretum.

Colombo, Sri Lanka to Incheon is an approximately 17-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. You'll lose 3.5 hours traveling from Colombo to Incheon due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Colombo in August, Incheon is a bit cooler at night with lows of 27°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Mon) to allow time to fly to Jeju.

Island of the Gods

The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju, has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO. The World Heritage-listed volcanic island includes the country's highest peak, sets of impressive lava tubes and columns, and several crater lakes.
Explore Jeju's surroundings by going to Seogwipo (Gwangchigi Beach, Seongsan Ilchulbong, &more). Spend the 24th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. The adventure continues: Head underground at Manjanggul Cave, get outside with Sehwa Beach, head off the coast to Udo, and kick back and relax at Hyeopjae Beach.

You can fly from Incheon to Jeju in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of subway, train, taxi, and ferry. Traveling from Incheon in September, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be somewhat warmer in Jeju, with lows of 26°C. On the 19th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
