One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Change things up with these side-trips from Seoul: Suwon (Yeonmudae (Dongjangdae) & Hwaseong Fortress) and DMZ Haemaru Village (in Paju). Pack the 1st (Sat) with family-friendly diversions at Lotte World. Tourism in Sokcho mostly revolves around the local national park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sokcho: Naksansa Temple (in Yangyang-gun), Baekdamsa Temple (in Inje-gun) and Pyeongchang-gun (Daegwallyeong Agi Mokjang & Lee Hyo-Seok Memorial Hall). Spend the 10th (Mon) exploring nature at Seoraksan National Park. And it doesn't end there: hike along Ulsanbawi Rock, admire the sheer force of Biryong Falls, take in the pleasant sights at Jeongdong-Simgok Badabuchae-gil Trail, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Sinheungsa Temple.
