Olhao — 2 nights
Algarve Region's largest fishing port, Olhao occupies a strategically important coastal area inhabited since prehistoric times.Get a sense of the local culture at Faro Cathedral and Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora do Rosario. Explore hidden gems such as Praia de Monte Gordo and Praia de Cacela Velha. Step out of Olhao with an excursion to Cerro da Vila in Vilamoura--about 40 minutes away. There's lots more to do: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Igreja do Carmo, appreciate the extensive heritage of Old Town Faro, browse the fresh offerings at Mercado Municipal de Loulé (Desde 1908), and contemplate the long history of Arc of Repouso.

The allure of the beaches and the town's historical center draw visitors to Lagos, a coastal destination in the Barlavento region of the Algarve.Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Praia dos Pescadores and Lagos Farol da Ponta da Piedade. Visit Arrifana Beach and Praia dos Salgados for some beach relaxation. Get out of town with these interesting Lagos side-trips: Praia da Oura (in Albufeira), Aljezur (Praia Da Amoreira & Praia do Monte Clérigo) and Olhos de Agua (Praia da Falesia & Praia dos Olhos de Água).
